FOUR KEY STRATEGIES OF FIGHTING

FOUR KEY STRATEGIES OF FIGHTING

1.  Công – Attack

One should attack before their opponent; this will give you the upper hand over the opponent since the opponent will waste their energy to defend themselves. The attacker will likely win over the defender.

2.  Th – To defend

While attacking your opponent, get ready to defend. Sometimes the fight/situation can change quickly and the attacker can easily fall into the opponent’s trap.

3.  Phn – Reverse

Look for the opportunities, movements and chances to reverse the situation. This can help one to win the fights even the winning possibilities are in the opponent’s favor.

4.  Biến – Changes

In every fight, apply the changes (sudden and unexpected) and think ahead of the possible outcomes and next various steps that your opponent will not expect of.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

For the birth of something new, there has to be a happening. Newton saw an apple fall; James Watt watched a kettle boil; Roentgen fogged some photographic plates. And these people knew enough to translate ordinary happenings into something new.

 KRAKOW’S ENIGMATIC CHARM

Post 684, November 23rd, 2024

KRAKOW’S ENIGMATIC CHARM

I returned to Krakow for the third time, this time alone and free of any schedule. Something about this city -the old capital of Poland- held a mysterious allure for me, though I couldn’t quite put my finger on why. To truly appreciate Krakow’s soul, one must walk its streets in daylight, marveling at the grandeur of its ancient buildings, its majestic churches, bustling marketplace, and, of course, the royal castle.

But this visit was different. I arrived just before sunset, ready to experience the city’s enigmatic charm under the cover of night. As dusk deepened, Krakow began to reveal another side of the city -a side buried in history. Late at night, the castle, seen from the outside, became a gateway to the past, drawing my imagination back to the 15th century, when Poland was locked in a bitter war with the Teutonic Order.

Wandering slowly through Krakow’s quiet streets, I let the echoes of history take hold of me. I could almost hear the clash of swords, the thunder of hooves, and the cries of knights piercing the darkness. The Teutonic knights, towering and formidable, wielded their long glaives with deadly precision. Alongside them fought skilled knights from across Europe: the English with their devastating crossbows, the French with their mastery of swords and lances, and the Czechs with their maces, hammers, and shields.

In the end, Poland emerged victorious, asserting itself as a rising power in the region, though the scars of war lingered for years.

As the hours passed and the streets grew quieter, I felt the weight of Krakow’s history pressing against the present. This city, so alive in daylight, seemed almost haunted at night -a living testament to the resilience of Poland and its people.

To explore Krakow, one must indeed walk its streets by day, taking in the beauty of its architecture, its churches, its market, and its castle. But to truly understand Poland, one must also delve into its history, feeling the pulse of its vibrant life not just in its cities, but in the stories etched into its very stones.

THE ULTIMATE SWORD

(Continued from Post 682)

THE ULTIMATE SWORD

Continued

General Eagle, with a kind but serious demeanor, said to the Prince, “Sir, if you wish to learn about the Ultimate Sword—a closely guarded secret of our army—please follow me.” Silently, the Prince followed the General down a narrow path that led through a secluded section of the army headquarters. They moved deeper into the forest, and as they walked, the General began to explain in a low voice, “The Ultimate Sword training is our nation’s secret technique. It teaches warriors to make the sword invisible and capable of producing sound.” The Prince, though surprised, maintained his composure and listened patiently. After a pause, the General continued, “An invisible sword is an invincible weapon.” They soon arrived at a training field where a group of warriors was in action. The Prince observed them moving swiftly in all directions, yet he could see no swords—only beams of light darting like butterflies in the sunlight. To his amazement, he heard harmonious, steely sounds, as if a hidden orchestra played an enchanting tune. The Prince started to ask a question, but the General motioned him to stay silent and continue walking. Shortly, they reached a clearing surrounded by large, carefully arranged stones, forming a secluded meeting space within the forest. Here, the two sat quietly, taking in the beauty and tranquility of this hidden sanctuary guarded by the army. After a moment, the General began a solemn lecture. It was one that the Prince would remember for years, especially when he became king. “The sound produced by a sword in motion reveals its quality and the skill of its wielder,” the General explained. “In the hands of our warriors, the Ultimate Sword can become invisible and produce musical tones that disorient enemies. There are five distinct sounds, each tied to one of the sword’s cutting lines: vertical, horizontal, diagonal, reverse, and circular.” He continued, “The Ultimate Sword’s secret lies in two elements: its construction and the training of its wielder. The sword is crafted from a special blend of steel, allowing it to vanish from view at certain angles. As for the training, it involves mastering a precise set of movements—an ‘Ultimate Sword Lesson’—a sequence that every warrior learns by heart and can perform even with closed eyes.” Listening intently, the Prince finally asked, “When I am king, will I have access to the secrets of making our Ultimate Sword?” The General’s response was cold: “No.” The Prince, surprised, pressed, “Why not?” With a slight pause, the General replied, “We let our enemies believe that the king possesses this knowledge. They act on that belief, giving us an advantage.” He added with a stern look, “Remember, Sir, in war, secrecy and surprise are everything.”
