POST 734 17 – A HECTIC JOURNEY As the train slowly moved away from
Thanh-Hoa, Lam-Tieu, now without a travelling companion, was left alone with
his thoughts. Suddenly, the image of the insignificant-looking man began to
puzzle him. He started to realize that the man, who said had spent several
days in Hanoi, had got off the train carrying only a small bag. Lam-Tieu’s
survival instinct awoke. He'd best be on his guard. He took out the business
card offered him by the man and examined it. It was a card with a blue
triangle logo in the upper left corner. The blue triangle enclosed a red
circle, in the middle of which there were three letters T printed in black
(TTT). The name Tran Van-Nam was placed in the centre of the card, and below
the name he could read ‘Sales Representative’ in both English and Vietnamese,
followed by a cellphone number and a personal email address. Lam-Tieu
remained contemplating the business card. The logo seemed very professional,
yet there was no phone number, address or website of the company listed on
the card. In retrospect, he realized that this man had solicited from him
information and that, although he appeared insignificant, he had a piercing
and intelligent look. Suddenly, another thought came to his mind of whether
he had been tailed. He realized that there were three new passengers sitting
in his compartment, a middle-aged man, fat and not very alert, a young and
elegant woman and a young man who looked like a student. Stealthily, he
observed them but could not come to any conclusion. He sketched out a plan to
lose a possible pursuer. Two hours later, the train made a stop at the
station in Vinh and Lam-Tieu took his bag and got off. On the platform, he
visually checked all the passengers who got off as well, but he did not see
any of the three new passengers. He saw nothing suspicious, but as a
precaution, he jumped into another car just before the train departed. Meanwhile, in Hanoi, 'the Boss', who
had just arrived from Yokohama, summoned all of his henchmen whose mission
was to search for the national Sacred Seal and the map of the lost treasure
of General Huyen-Nhan, the Chinese general of the army of the Ming. (to be continued) |
