POST 212 – August 02, 2015

 Post 212    August 02, 2015

  A WORD FROM G.M.
For this month of August I would like to show you a fighting technique called Exercise THANG-MOC- MUC (Thẳng Móc Múc) which is largely known from the program of VoViet and VietChiDao.

-You will take more advantage from the Exercise THANG-MOC- MUC if you carefully notice the side of hands and legs for each different move (left, right; south, north)
I wish you a wonderful continuing summer filled with JOY and PEACE.
 G.M.P.H

POST 212 EXERCISE THANG-MOC -MUC
This popular technique is also known as Don Bay-Nep (Đòn Bẩy-Nếp). Bay-Nep is the name of a famous martial art fighter living at the 1940s in the then very troubled area Xóm-Củi (Wood Fenders People) of Saigon. This technique is one among some others well known techniques from his legacy. According to what people told me and what I have found at the end of 1950s, Bay-Nep also learned the Gồng technique called  Gồng-Chà-Kha from Thất-Sơn Mountains which gave him a ‘surnatural force’ to accomplish many prouesses. At this very poor and unsafe area Xóm-Củi (Wood Fenders People) there was a small noisy bus station from where old buses took people down to other towns, south of Saigon: Can-Giuoc, Can-Duoc, Go-Cong. Bay-Nep worked there with multi activities for a living and for a fighting life of  protecting his people. This southern area was rich in history as it has produced a number of famous and heroic people. Even today, those names touch my heart each time I think of their stories: Nguyễn-Trung-Trực, Bà Đùng, Bà Đề, Trương-Công-Định, Nguyễn-Đình-Chiểu and many others. Bay-Nep was born half a century later comparatively to the above heroes, and he was not a known figure in the Vietnamese History. But for me I knew he deserved to be remembered, I knew it because for four years, 1958-1962, I regularly came to  Xóm-Củi where there still were some people who knew him and some other guys trained themselves with some of his techniques.

THANG-MOC -MUC

PAST POST June 2013
TORUN and the HOUSE OF COPERNICUS

At 4:30 PM Friday 31 May 2013 our small team -four guys and G.M- arrived at the door of the House of Copernicus in Torun, Poland. We did feel likely going back to the 15th century and meeting with Copernicus in person! What an unforgettable trip.
