LUYEN THAM-CONG
Deep Training Method
TEACHING FROM G.M PHAN HOANG
   Concept

THAM CONG , Deep Training Method.   Thâm-Công is a method of training in Vietchidao  using slow movements when executing a specific exercise. It aims at improving physical strength, mind concentration, endurance and immunity.

It is important to understand that for some disciplines, such as the taijiquan, moving slowly is the way of that discipline while in the method of Thâm-Công the slow motion is only a supporting technique for the deep work behind the movement. Slow motion is not the aim but the means; the speed could vary according to each phase of the exercise.
-Benefits. This method offers many benefits, especially: maintaining good health and good shape; strengthening endurance, stamina, and self-confidence; helping fight against fatigue, privation.
-Supporting Technique.-We use a number of movements selected from various quyen (kata) inVietchidao.
-Breathing. Profound breathing. The breathing process for this practice has three phases: Breathing-in, short Apnea , and Breathing-out. The length of each phase depends on the rhythm and capacity of individuals. Regarding the breathing method,  in general the method of Tho-Phoi/ Lung-breathing is in use, however depending on the nature of the exercise it could be combined with Tho-Bung/Belly-breathing, or using simply Tho-Bung/Belly-breathing
-Process. Execute the designated exercise with slow motion, following the method of breathing indicated above. The aim is strengthening the whole body while moving slowly, then the physical force is slowly concentrated on the ‘focus’ of each exercise (e.g the Hara). The mind must be quiet, detached. It is very important to understand that the slow motion is NOT the purpose nor the aim of Thâm-Công method, therefore the real work must be on the mobilization of physical force to improve one’s strength, and the training of the mind for persistence and patience.
DETERMINATION IS OUR MOTTO

EXERCISE

TINH LUOC
For the purpose of this Post 426 we have selected for your practice the Exercise TINH LUOC which is one short form from the Series Bat Nha. You will find in this Post 426 the basic pictures of TINH LUOC (extracted from a video recorded in Canada): 34 pictures presented in three sheets; it’s easy to consult. Additionally an attached video will help you better to understand how these movements work. This video was spontaneously recorded at the Annual Training in Pledran (France) this year 2019. So the two documents was made independently, they will not be necessary synchronized. Thank you for your attention.
The next post, Post 427, will deal with advanced issues for TINH LUOC training.
