harsh winter in Canada I can easily imagine how terrible was the Russian
winter of 1812 that destroyed the Grand Army of Napoleon. |

THE RUSSIAN CAMPAIGN OF NAPOLEON Napoleon raised his large army of 685,000 soldiers to invade Russia. In
September 1812 he entered a deserted Moscow, as the Russians employed
scorched-earth tactics, the city began to burn down around him. With the
terrible Russian winter coming Napoleon was forced to retreat. The Grand Army
of Napoleon suffered from the onset of winter, only one in 20 made it back to
