AND REALITY I
arrived on a remote island and discovered its stunning beaches, where the
pristine waters mirrored the blue sky, the trees, and drifting clouds, like a
flawless reflection. A mirror shows things, but what it reflects is an
illusion. As I look back on my long journey through life, I realize how
difficult it is to distinguish reality from illusion. Too often, illusion is
more alluring than reality. In business, politics, and even martial arts,
people frequently make misguided decisions when they mistake illusion for
truth, the process for the content. Politicians, in particular, are masters
