No 05 - WIDE Standing Stance: Look around before starting an action

The Wide Stance is an invitation to observe your environment before making a move. This stance teaches the value of situational awareness and encourages careful consideration before launching into action. Don’t rush into decisions. Take time to observe, analyze, and understand your surroundings before taking action.

POST 709

8 – DISCIPLE CHAN-CUNG

Clara had just finished reading the document “The Collector of Heads” that her master Steve Hogan had given her. She remained thoughtful. What did happen to Bao-Dan, the carrier of the Sacred Seal, after he went into the forest? Before pursuing her research in Vietnam, she decided to go to Japan and meet her master, who was visiting Tokyo for a month.

Clara had just arrived at Tokyo Narita airport - her flight from Los Angeles had landed on time. While she was picking up her backpack from the luggage belt, a tall and strongly built man, a physical feature not very common for Asians, bumped into her. He did not apologize, which is very rare in Japan. She stared at him and shot him a dark look. In other circumstances, she would have him punished for that. The man's face, disfigured by a large scar on his cheek, remained engraved in her memory. Later, while she was on the platform, awaiting the arrival of the train to down-town Tokyo, she heard a conversation between three men behind her. They were speaking Chinese and that caught her attention. She froze when she understood that they were talking about a sacred Seal and a map lost in Vietnam. The noise of the train coming into the station masked the rest of the conversation. While she embarked into the train, she looked at these three men and one of them was the man with a scar on his face, who had bumped into her just before.

Clara got out of the train at the immense Shinjuku station where a multitude of subway lines and train lines intersect. Without any hesitation, she crossed through a sea of people to the paid lockers to store her backpack. Then, she hurried to Yoyogi station, to go to the National Olympics Memorial sports centre, where her master had a room during his stay in Tokyo. Her master, sitting with dignity on a stone bench, was waiting for her. His open and smiling face brightened up when he saw her coming. Together, they went to the reception hall.
