No 06 - REAR FOOT Stance: Be always ready

The Rear Foot Stance symbolizes preparedness and vigilance. The rear foot provides the foundation for movement, allowing you to quickly shift weight and adapt to any attack. This stance represents always being in a state of readiness—prepared to respond to challenges as they arise, whether in combat or life. Preparedness is the key to success.

You can ignore reality, but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.

“A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.”

For the birth of something new, there has to be a happening. Newton saw an apple fall; James Watt watched a kettle boil; Roentgen fogged some photographic plates. And these people knew enough to translate ordinary happenings into something new.

POST 710 …

After the joy and excitement of their reunion so far from California, Clara quickly came to the heart of the subject:

“Master, the story in the document you gave me stops when Bao-Dan disappears into the forest with the Sacred Seal. Do you know what happens afterwards?”

With an enigmatic half-smile, the Master replied: “I knew you would ask me that question.”

He stayed silent for a moment then continued: “I don't have the next part of that document. It is up to you to find it because it must be somewhere. I have the feeling that the area of Nui-Hu at Yen-Bai, in the north of Vietnam, is a good starting point for your research on the ground, especially the small temple dedicated to Quy-Su after Bao-Dan killed him. Here is a local map to guide you. Your mission is not without danger. There is a high chance that other people will be looking for the Sacred Seal and a map for the hidden treasure.”

The master looked at Clara thoughtfully for a while and then he continued:

“As I already told you, in the past, the king of Vietnam was a Heaven representative and his mission was to govern the country in accordance with the celestial rules. The possession of the national Sacred Seal assured his legitimacy. In popular belief, the king would lose this legitimacy if he lost the Sacred Seal. Whoever possesses the Sacred Seal may claim that he had received the mandate from heaven to govern the country, and deserves the confidence of the people. In 1414, when the Chinese army of the Ming, under the command of the generals Truong-Phu and Moc-Thanh, invaded Vietnam, the Tran dynasty collapsed. The army generals of the Ming and, especially the head of the secret police, Huyen Nhan, tried to find the Sacred Seal to eliminate any legitimate resistance movements and to conquer the country more easily. They did not find the Seal, which, at that time, was under the protection of the Thuan-Thien Secret Society. The Society refused to form itself into a movement of resistance, but it could hand over the Sacred Seal to the most deserving group. However, it could also take back the Seal by discreet means if there were actions in the government that went against the interests of the country.

So, Clara, you do understand the importance of Bao-Dan's mission to protect the Seal and of the struggle between different factions to get this Seal. This fight may have lasted until today. At the end of the war in 1428, Huyen-Nhan returned to his home province of Van Nam (Yunnan) where he created a martial arts school called Van Nam Huyen Dao Phai. A century and a half later, Quy Su, one of his descendants, was a leading disciple of that school. In the late nineteenth century, the school still existed as a secret Chinese sect with branches in Vietnam. This sect brought strong support to the Pavillons Noirs in their fight against the French. In 1883, the French military officers Henri Rivière and Francis Garnier were killed by the Pavillons Noirs, under the command of Luu Vinh-Phuc, in the battle for the occupation of Hanoi.”
