In the Post VCDO November 2021 you will find all the nine parts of this important form: HOANH SON Quyen which could be executed in both styles: gentle and slow or dynamic and clear cut. Historical
facts. During the last part
of the 16th century Vietnam was in chaos situation: King Mac,
Lord Trinh, and Lord Nguyen were fighting against each other for gaining the
power. On that background a great master appeared: Master NGUYEN BINH-KHIEM
(1491-1581). He was the master for all the three antagonists, author of many
writings, and especially a book called Sấm Trạng Trình which
is considered by some people a book of advices on strategy while many people
believe, so far, it is a Vietnamese equivalent book to ‘Nostradamus’. Up to
our time NGUYEN BINH-KHIEM is venerated as an Immortal in the Buddhist Sect
CAO-DAI. Story and legend. NGUYEN HOANG was a brilliant officer serving in the army of Lord TRINH-KIEM who was his brother-in-law. Lord TRINH-KIEM was aware of the possibility that later NGUYEN HOANG will challenge his authority, therefore Lord TRINH was awaiting for an opportunity to eliminate his potential opponent. Facing this great danger NGUYEN HOANG called on master BINH-KHIEM for advice. On that meeting the master did not say a word but pointing his forefinger to the south, beyond these mountains, then waved his forefinger three times before stopping and drawing a lateral line. NGUYEN HOANG then understood that the master told him to go far away to take refuge behind the Lateral Mountain Hoanh-Son. And then after what will he have to do? The master still did not say anything, he just gave him a book and motioned him to go. Following the advice of his master NGUYEN HOANG went south with his family and a number of followers. He seriously applied the knowledge and strategy gained from the book of the master and later became a Lord NGUYEN. Generations after, one of his descendent became King GIA-LONG founder of the NGUYEN Dynasty (1881-1945). According to popular oral-history the advice of master BINH-KHIEM was in this saying: “Hoành Sơn nhất đái, vạn đại dung thân’ = One Transverse Mountain can protect many generations It is believed that
the original copy of his book is still to be preserved at a pagoda known
under a code name ‘CHUA MAI’, somewhere in North Vietnam./. |

COMMENTS FOR THE THREE SETS ( Number
01 to number 06)
It is foolish to teach those who do not want to
learn and it is criminal to transfer knowledge to those who would use it
against humanity. Therefore, the priority should be given to those who come
forward asking for knowledge -with sincerity and honesty, and with good
intension of learning. So with observation -of the stances, the gestures, the
behaviour, the mind- a master could see how deep, how sincere a new comer is.
Hoành-sơn
nhất đái is a high chain of mountain in central Vietnam
which makes the pass difficult. So the first required quality for those who
want to learn Hoanh-Son Quyen is the willingness to overcome difficulty, to
be determined, and to be persistent. In other words, at first step, Hoanh-Son
aims to train the learner in this way.
Viễn kiến
vô ngại . Successful and happy people are those who develop
vision at any situation, they are trained to foresee and to be determined.
They will quietly opt for the best solution.
Nguyệt ảnh
thâm tuyền. In
a night of full moon, looking up to the sky, people can see a beautiful moon;
and they see only one moon. But the wise observer, looking down to a river,
can see many moons reflected through thousands of waves. The water, for not
having rigid form, can provide surprising power. The mind of a wise learner
is beautiful like a moon and deep like water; moving slowly but surely. /.

THE ULTIMATE SWORD Post 682, November 09, 2024 |

THE ULTIMATE
SWORD In a distant past, the South Kingdom followed a wise tradition for the transfer of power. When a reigning king grew old, he would, with the counsel of the Court, select one of his sons to be the new king. The chosen prince was then granted a year of apprenticeship, after which he would be officially proclaimed as the next king, adopting a regal name for his reign. During this apprenticeship, the prince would work in each of the six government ministries, gaining a deep understanding of the kingdom affairs. He was also granted the freedom to investigate any matter he deemed important.
The
prince in this story was a young man: intelligent, but with a touch of
arrogance. On the day he visited the army, led by the renowned General Eagle,
he skipped the usual protocols and went straight to his question. “General,
tell me—what makes a general unworthy of respect?” General Eagle, with a
faint smile barely softening his steely expression, responded, “Sir, the list
is long, but I will tell you this: when the Prince does not show respect to
his General, the soldiers will lose respect for the Prince. And when respect
is lost, the country itself may start to fracture.” With those words, General
Eagle gave the prince a formal salute and suggested him to schedule a later time
for further discussion. When the Prince returned for his next visit, he
followed the proper protocols. Just as he was preparing to ask a new
question, General Eagle spoke first. “Sir, would you care to learn about the
most closely guarded secret of our army?” The Prince, intrigued, forgot his
intended question and leaned in with excitement.(to be continued in the next
