KHI-THET KIAI: Please see the technical description further in this Post 216

CHALLENGE in the previous Post 215: Here is the answer.

-Now you know Who is Who in here :-)

-Now you see the presence of a cat in the new picture. However, another question remains:
WHAT A CAT COULD MAKE A ZEN GARDEN MORE 'ZEN' ?

THE POWER OF KHI-THET (Kiai)

September, the last month of summer, is always an exciting month because it is the month of BACK TO SCHOOL and the month of the most beautiful moon in the year. I strongly suggest that you do some exceptional training in this occasion, in groups or individually, and send me some beautiful pictures. BE STRONG AS ALWAYS!

KHI-THET (Khí-Thét) in Vietnamese, and in our 8 disciplines, is a general term for a series of different techniques of training and for various purposes: attack, defense, healing, self-healing, awakening, voice improvement, inner-power development, psychology, and so forth.
Khí means air, energy, one’s primal nature, hidden force. Thét means making a sound with high pitch or frequency.

Among these techniques count the following:
-Khủng-Thiết is a Khí-Thét which terrifies the attacker. Khủng means terrify, terror, very wide; Thiết  means cutting.
-Chấn-Thiết  is a Khí-Thét preventing attack from aggressors or  preventing from getting cold. Chấn  means thunder, dominating. Thiết, cutting.
-An-Thiết is a healing Khí-Thét. An means peace, safety.  Thiết, cutting the cause of trouble.
-Vọng Thiết is a Khí-Thét aiming to harmonize ‘the One with the Universe’ (= I am with the universe, so I am beyond boundaries ). -Vọng  means ‘towards’ (expecting, looking beyond boundaries);  Thiết, cutting all burdens that prevent to be with the Universe.

The History of Vietnamese Masters count some exceptional masters such as:
-Master Đạo-Hạnh (?-1117) who once made strong sound like a tiger, and his disciple Master Giác-Hải whose sound made a cắc-kè (greko) felt from the roof of a temple. In the 19th century during a fierce battle an opposing elephant tried to charge the general Phan-Bá-Vàng; he then produced  a terrifying  khí-thét that made the elephant ran back charging its own troupe. In the 1960s, at the Pagoda Long-Hoa near Saigon, master Thanh-Trụ a Buddhist monk frequently used the khí-thét for successful healing purposes. (He was one of my masters, and the master of my uncle, monk Tu-Huong at this temple.)

BASIC METHOD FOR KHUNG-THIET.
Step one: Two weeks of training, 108 times a day. Focus on the development of physical capacity of ‘taking air in and out’ using the breathing method of Tho-Phoi-Bung. Inhaling via nose, slowly, widely; exhaling via mouth, in a shortest time one can, contracting the whole body. Let the sound get out naturally.

Step two. Two weeks of training, 108 times a day. The focus is now on the sound: alternate a long sound and a short sound. Develop the capacity of ‘vocal cord’ and its endurance.

Step three. At least one month of training, 54 times a day . The focus is now on the variation of frequencies in high tone, the vibration and the quality of the sound (i… a... oum…), the transferring of energy, the power of eyes, and the power of mind.

Khí-Thét training is not for anyone, even not for every Chi-Luc member. It is a power of exceptional people. However, you can try it in this month of September training, or later. Carefully keep this document in your Viet-Chi Program folder.
