POST 70 11NOV2012 MAGICAL PALMA
Yes, Palma is a magical city.
The more I explore Palma the less I feel I know it.
A hundred medieval narrow streets surprisingly clean make you feel safe; a thousand restaurants and coffee shops in all styles attract you. Some dozen parks everywhere, many talented musicians and magic men, churches and churches, also all kind of nice dogs here and there.... how could you know where you are when people around you are tall and speak German :-)
Palma is a mysterious city! I'll have more to tell you.
Hope to see many of you in the coming PADOVA STAGE 17,18 November.

POST 71 14NOV2012 for MY BIRTHDAY POST 14 NOVEMBER
If one day it happens that you are visiting Palma (Mallorca island, Spain) you should not miss two things:
1-Late night go alone through many narrow streets around the area of the Central Youth Hostel, near Placa San Francisc and imagine how Palma was a few centuries ago, and how today we could always go back in the past., with or without risk..
2-Take the old train, built in 1906, to Soller. Just sit, feel, and dream! Then try to go back to Palma by... "auto-stop" (hit hiking)
I am writing this in Palma while the whole country of Spain is in HUELGO GENERAL /General Strike and Demonstration/Manifestation. Today is one of my birthdays (Yes, I have several birthdays!). Master Phan Hoang is a Scorpio, you know.
Enjoy a good day.
SPONTANEOUS LETTER No 62
11 November 2012
THE TRAIN OF SOLLER. It goes slowly.
To bring us back in time.
Over a century ago.
The time of MIRO.
His art work still shows us in this train.
That Spain is great.
Nicely we , visitors, are back on the old tracks.
To Soller, and beyond.
Mountains, fields, olive trees, pins.
Some tunnels and some stone houses.
Through this fabulous train of time.
I saw all, and also felt.
The dream of my grand-father.
Who loved to travel by train
The train of his time.
The train that never goes back.
PHAN HOANG.

POST 76 28Nov2012 Exercise SKY EAGLE DAIBANG KINH THIEN
The Exercise DAI-BANG KINH-THIEN (Sky Eagle) is an exciting training for all the eight disciplines of Viet-Chi System, especially in martial arts VOVIET/Vietvodao; VIETTAICHI; and NOI-CONG CHI-LUC
We just received a picture from Black Belt CAO-CHI AIT ALI from Casablanca and we encourage others to send us their pictures by email to:
clubmasterphanhoang@gmail.com
------------------------------
ĐẠI BÀNG KÌNH THIÊN
Ref: 121115 dai bang kinh thien
INTRODUCTION. For years you have probably seen many pictures of Master Phan-Hoang at various places in the world standing in the posture of ĐẠI-BÀNG KÌNH-THIÊN / SKY-EAGLE. Why did he do it?
ĐẠI-BÀNG KÌNH-THIÊN / SKY-EAGLE is a common exercise for several disciplines including VIETVODAO , NOI-CONG CHI-LUC (hard way), VIETTAICHI (middle way), VIET-KHI-PHAP (soft way), and CHI-CUOC (the art of legs), with different manners of execution: Static (inner work) vs Dynamic (combat).
This document is for those who are enrolled in the three Black Belt Programs 2012 (VIET-KHI-PHAP; NOI-CONG CHI-LUC, VIETCHIKIEM) and to RANGER Members.
Since this practice implies a high risk of falling on ground one must carefully consider the risk and take full responsibility for his or her own safety in doing it.
DESCRIPTION. The posture represents an eagle firmly standing on one leg in equilibrium between sky and earth. The two wings could be in various positions.
MISSION OF ĐẠI-BÀNG KÌNH-THIÊN (DBKT). Belonging to the group of DIEU-BO (Điểu-Bộ/Birds Techniques) DBKT has several missions, especially the following:
-to show a representative example of bird technique in the Viet-Chi System: combination and integration of Beauty, Efficacy, and High Spirit,
-to offer a specific training technique which combines “body-mind” and “combat”
-to express, as a symbol, message and guidance.
MESSAGE (SYMBOL). Whenever a Sky-Eagle comes to a place and executes this posture, the meaning is: “I AM STANDING HERE, SKY AND EARTH BEING WITNESSES, THAT I AM IN EQUILIBRIUM POSITION WITH THE UNIVERSE AND AS ALWAYS I AM LOYAL TO THE IDEAL OF SKY- EAGLE”.
The hands and arms could express metaphors using hand-seals as language. For example the two hand-seals “vo-uy/no fear” with one pointing to the sky and the other to the earth (or the sea in the attached picture at Palma, Nov. 2012) express the teaching of Master Phan-Hoang that said: “Being in connection with the universe in perfect equilibrium one is part of the universe, nothing could affect one’s mind”.
When the two hands are open-upward, the meaning is for “HAPPINESS”; when the two hands are open-downward: “ALL PROBLEMS DISAPPEAR”. To know more about hand-seals please refer to the book SU-LO (Viet-Chi Post).
TECHNICAL TRAINING
For VIET-KHI-PHAP members: Please execute this exercise very slowly and change the position of your legs and hands smoothly. Personal preference for breathing methods could be selected. A brief movement of gong/ muscular contraction is to be applied at the end of exhaling. Alternate your breathing with the two methods of Tho-Phoi and Tho-Bung (Lung breathing, and Belly breathing) is recommended.
For the other disciplines:
Level 1. To train legs and equilibrium: Stay still in this posture for two minutes (then later 3 to 5 minutes); deep breathing (applying alternatively Tho-Phoi/Lungs Breathing and Tho-Bung/Belly Breathing), then change legs and hands for the same during of time. Standard training is for 5 times of change.
Level 2. From ground jump up on top of a small wall directly in the posture of DBKT. If failed, you should train yourself until you are skilled enough to successfully jump up on top of a wall (standard of height is for 60cm). Then do the same exercise as for Level 1, except that after each change of legs you must jump down then jump up again.
Don’t be discouraged: YOU ARE A NOI-CHI-GIA, A TRANG-SI, or a RANGER!
Level 3. At this level you don’t stay still; you jump up then execute: Da-Thang/Front-kick, Da-Ngang/Lateral-kick, Da-sau/Rear-kick, Da-vong/Circling-kick; then change legs; then moving left three steps then back, then moving right three steps while deploying attacks in the style of Đại-bàng-chuyển-dực: The Eagle Moving Its Wings. Then jump down in order to restart by jumping up.
It must look like a Majectic Dance of The Sky-Eagle or in other term, the deadly attack of the King Eagle! You do it and you will discover How Great To Be A King Eagle.
PLEASE TAKE SOME PICTURES OR VIDEOS of your actions and send them to me.
Be Strong

POST 82 20DEC2012 Friday DOOMSDAY
TRUTH AND FALLACY -MEXICO PICTURES
Friday 21-12-2012 “The Doomsday”
TRUTH AND FALLACY
The foundation of religion, any religion, is Belief.
The foundation of science, any field of science, is Proof.
Consequently good religion should not claim to be scientific but having good belief, and good science must be set upon good proofs.
Between these two domains, there is an edge. At this cutting edge, the truth and fallacy could sometimes confuse us a great deal. For example, in the 18th century, the great mathematician Euler once challenged the well-known philosopher Diderot by writing an equation voluntarily made too complicate to the philosopher and concluded “Therefore God exists”. Then Euler invited Diderot to the blackboard to prove the opposite. Diderot angrily left the conference! Today, I thought that Diderot should have been staying at that conference and making some mysterious symbols on the blackboard then claiming loud out “So God does not exist!”
Today, Thursday 20 December 2012, I am writing this without having formal proof that tomorrow, 21 December 2012, will be the Doomsday or not. There are, as it happens in life, two choices: believing it or not believing it. I have to choose, and my choice is: believing in a failed Doomsday! So probably on Saturday morning, 22 December, I will survive and live a most enthusiastic day in my life, and love more than usually everyone I loved the day before.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013

BAT NHA (fourth letter)
NOTHINGNESS AND ONENESS
If zero = Nothingness, and 1 = Oneness
Then Nothingness and Oneness can govern the whole world in the way Zeroes and Ones encode everything you receive from not only the Internet but everywhere in your life: music, photos, banks, voices, telephone, car, GPS and so on.
In fact, Nothingness can be equal to Oneness. Yes, here is one way to demonstrate it; that means we are going to prove that 1 = 0
Let’s assume ‘a’ and ‘b’, both equal to 1 (Nothing here is unacceptable).
Then b2 = ab.
Of course a2 = a2.
Subtract; we obtain
a2 – b2 = a2 – ab (nothing to say about this).
Then, a2 – b2 = a(a-b), (correct).
Then, (a+b) (a-b) = a(a-b).
Then, (a+b) (a-b)/(a-b) = a(a-b)/(a-b)
→ a + b = a.
Surprisingly:
b = a-a = 0 (zero)!
Because we set b to be 1, so b = 1 and 1 = 0
Oneness and Nothingness are equal, QED!
Today students replace the old QED (quod erat demonstrandum) by a filled square ■ called a halmos.
Conclusion: We did not pretend to make a mathematical demonstration for
Nothingness = Oneness,
but we pretend that knowing deeply about Nothingness and Oneness could make our life much better. So when you do our exercises, whether in Viettaichi, Viet-Khi-Phap, or Vietvodao, remember:
Breathing in = Oneness (fullness), and
Breathing Out = Nothingness (emptiness)
We do both actions of breathing with the same attention, and the same focus. In case of stress or hardship, just breathe in fully then breathe out totally. Firmly say to yourself that you are really STRONG when you are breathing in, and breathing out; thinking that nothing can affect your mind.
Challenge for those who like mathematics: Please find the flaw in this mathematical proof and send me your answer via email: masterphanhoangatgmail.com,

LADY OF THE YEAR 2012
Anna Campo (wining the prestigious G.M. AWARD)
Master Hoang-Van Anna Campo, disciple of Master Bao-Lan (Padova, Italy), is an exceptional lady-master. At different levels, from technical training, pedagogy, organisation, leadership, up to creative spirit she is always excellent. Many of her achievements have proved it all, especially at the two successful Stages of Viettaichi in Padova 2011, 2012.
This year the Certificate of G.M. AWARD presented to her will be joined by a special gift taken from the collection of Grand Master Phan Hoang.

WARSAW - THE THREE POLICEMEN
Imagine how thrilling it was for me to be in Warsaw on May 1, 2004 sharing alongside the Polish people in the historical event as their grand nation joined as a member of the European Union, together with Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. I have no words to describe that experience!
Unlike my next visit to Warsaw on November 11, 2004, when I reflexively remembered to find my breath and my words. One fine day I was pleasantly strolling around a nice area downtown, drinking in all of the modern, fancy shops that were springing up, admiring the beautiful architecture of new buildings that were decoratively juxtaposed around the majestic Lenin-style central edifices built during the communist era. Suddenly, three men in casual clothes converged on me, abruptly shattering my peaceful morning, filling my eyes with an official looking card that screamed the words "Police Officer." Speaking in commanding but broken English, they ordered me to produce my ID immediately. After one second of hesitation, I sensed that something about these men was not right. I looked intensely into their eyes. Then I spoke. Like a miracle produced from magical power, they all scattered at the fastest speed they could disappear. Imagine what I said!
In any place in the world people are typically afraid of The Police. Honest people like me are usually automatically inclined to obey orders from the Police. I was just about to pull out the small travel pouch that I hang around my neck hidden under my sweater, full of credit cards, driver's license, ID, passport and some money. Yet in my split second of hesitation it occurred to me that if these men were truly Police officers, they would not be afraid of Police officers. And inversely, if they were imposters, it seemed that a most effective antidote against Police impersonators would be the real Police! So after that silent moment looking into their eyes, I quietly said: "I know all of you. You are not Police." Then I drew in my powerful breath, raised my voice, and resonated the highest pitch on my magical mantra: "POLIJA! POLIJA! POLIJA!" As the three thieves vanished into the wind, I manoeuvred myself into a nearby shoe shop in search of a safer haven and a comfortable pair of walking boots.

THE LAKE TWO MOUNTAINS
From time to time, I have the opportunity to come back and see this large lake to which I gave a Vietnamese name, "Ho Luong Son", reflecting its original name: "Lac de Deux Montagnes" / "Lake Two Mountains."
Every time when I see it, it always provides me with a source of energy and a deep inspiration, whatever the time of the day: morning or night, or the season: winter, summer, fall or spring.
There were moments I stayed a long time at the lake contemplating the immensity of this lake and the sky. Many times in winter, when the temperature outside is minus thirty degrees centigrade, I crossed the lake by car via the "ice bridge", the name given to the iced passage lined with small fir trees between the shore of Oka (Quebec) and the shore of Hudson (Quebec) two kilometers across the lake. Frequently, on snowshoes I walked on this lake, when a thick layer of fresh snow covered its iced surface. One autumn evening, I crossed by boat when it was violently shaken by a strong storm. For me, this lake is both mysterious and unforgettable: it is the birthplace of Viet-Tai-Chi and many other teaching during the eight years of intensive creation and reflection at its shore. Seeing again this lake gives me an inexplicable strength!
Phan Hoang ((25-08-2011)

RECEIVED MAIL
as a child I started practicing Viet Vo Dao in Mannheim, Germany, but had to stop between cap two and three due to our family's move to a different district. I think I was too young to recognize how good it would have been for the development of my personal character to go on with practicing Viet Vo Dao on the one hand but on the other hand our family just did not have the funds to allow going on with it. So now the years have passed and after almost twenty years I have just recently picked up with Viet Vo Dao again.
During each training I feel every inch of my body telling me it is not in the right condition yet and it is going to take a very long time to be in the right condition. I can clearly remember how fit I was back then and still then I cannot believe it. I will go on -- it feels good to be back on the path.
The reason I am contacting you is that I stumbled upon your blog at http://masterphanhoang.blogspot.de/ just an hour ago and took the time to read through your latest messages posted there. I honestly want to say thank you for your inspiring and mind opening thoughts on your trip to Santiago de Compostelle with Master Filipe Leite de Sousa and follow your invitation to send you a photo of me taken at Santiago de Compostelle.
In 2008 I took the time to start my way from Le Puy en Velay to Santiago de Compostelle and beyond -- en plus walk to the end of the old world at Cap de Finisterre where the journey had to end.
Reading your message I can recall the happiness I felt the day that I arrived at Santiago de Compostelle, after almost 2000 kilometers by foot. Thank you so much! (from D.T. January 2013)

-STAGE DE ROYAUMONT December 1978-

POST 90 POST 90 25Jan2013 -VIETNAMESE TRADITIONAL ROBE AO DZAI
THE VIETNAMESE TRADITIONAL ROBE AO-DAI
Originally the Vietnamese traditional robe ao dai ( áo dài /) has two distinct versions for man and woman. Today, except for some rare occasion, one could not see much Vietnamese men wearing the traditional robe while going to work. On the reverse the áo dài is commonly worn by women, and it is gaining international favor. The Vietnamese áo dài is in deep mutation taking thousands of new designs with unlimited dreaming colors.
This week we have received via email a series of beautiful pictures, taken in Washington DC, presenting the Vietnamese robe áo dài under the wonderful lenses of the photographer NHAT HUNG. All these pictures are really beautiful and highly creative. CONGRATULATIONS.
Among over thirty pictures we have taken the liberty to select some to share with you in this blog. Enjoy!
SURPRISE. Through Viet-Chi Post and Learning Letters you have probably seen many pictures of Master Phan Hoang in vo-phuc (kimono), but no one -in the martial arts circle- has ever seen him in Vietnamese áo dài since the historical presentation of Vietvodao in Paris 1974 (Salle Playel, 38 years ago!). Now, here are three original pictures of the Master.

01 February 2013 SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH
TO ME, IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO SAID IT, IT MATTERS HOW TRUE IT COULD BE. I found the following passage to share with you today and I am posting some pictures taken somewhere on my long travel, November 2012. (Phan Hoang)

POST 92 09FEBRUARY2013 -WHERE IS IT?
WHERE IS IT IN MY WORLD?
I thought a picture, beyond recording place and time, should reveal some hidden voice, feeling, hope or despair to the viewer. Therefore, not giving title, place, date and time could make the picture talk more than usual to the viewer.
Pictures taken by my cellphone, an old BlackBerry, are surely of low quality. Fortunately, they can certainly certify one thing: I was on the go and did not have time to take my regular Sony camera out of my bag.

POST 96 22FEBRUARY2013 The Three Secrets
To the group TRANG-SI CUNEO
Dear all,
This morning, Monday 18, 2013, in Canada the temperature is minus 18 degree Celsius.
You could think that it is very cold, but for us this is the normal weather in winter; some days we even get minus 24 or lower. So in winter how life could be going on as usual under such a condition, how workers like those in the construction sector can continue their job outdoor, and some musicians continue to play in the street of Ottawa? We really do have some secrets; perhaps can I reveal it to you, as follows:
-First, we have clothes, caps, gloves, and shoes in excellent quality to protect our body (Prioritizing good equipment)
-Second, we have the spirit of determination to arm our soul. (Understanding that determination is the key for success.)
-Third, we get fair reward when good job is done. (Loving Justice and Freedom)But is that the exceptional character of people living here?

NO. The population of Canada is made of a great number of people with diverse roots. To be or not to be Canadian is not a great question, the real question is to accept or not to accept Canadian winter as it is. Do we need a referendum for this?

POST 98 08March3015 - A MARTIAL ART STORY
LA FORCE DU CALME
The Power of Quietness - A martial art story
Reviens me voir plus tard".

Lake of Wonder
Friday 2013-03-15. Dear all,
Soon we are in the beginning of the spring, a beautiful season of joy and hope. I have taken a series of spontaneous pictures and now I want to share these images with you in our Blog of this week, hereby attached.
Now let’s get to the story of the Lake of Wonder in Mexico I wrote three years ago.
(Mexico, Thursday 2010-02-25) This lake is mysterious. The people here call it by the name of the Virgin, in Spanish. In my writing , I have reason to give this surprising lake the name of “Ky-Ho”, the Lake of Wonder.
The more I know this lake the more mysterious it is to me. Not only the lake can suddenly change its color but also its surface, even its form among many other curious phenomena. The origin of its legend too is a mystery.
Last week I came back here in the morning for my training and by the time I finished executing nine times the form BAI DI-XA the mysterious lake has changed its face from an indefinite dark aspect when I arrived to a nice light blue-green. From here I cannot see the famous volcano Popocatepelt but the surface of the lake reflected to me another majestic mountain. The scenery of a still mountain and its moving image on the water was so beautiful that I sat down admiring this landscape for a while. The majestic mountain, being a mountain, cannot move but its image, being the art work of the water, can dance with the wind and change with the mood of the water. The lake cannot rise high by itself at the level of the mountain, but it can embrace the mountain and hide its deepness. One cannot see the bottom of the lake by looking at the mountain but it is easy to see the top of the mountain by looking on to the lake. This observation caught my thought. It seemed that the lake has sent me a message:
Be strong like the mountain and be flexible like the lake.
Here we are in a region of high altitude in Mexico where there are many volcanoes. I know that I could never know how deep this intriguing lake could be. Possibly it could be connected to a sleeping volcano, like the one in France, near Clermont-Ferrand, I had known many years ago when I was teaching Economics in this special city of Michelin. In that case the lake could be very deep. However I thought I could more or less explore to know how large this lake is. To me, assessing the boundary’s length of this lake was likely engaging into a challenge, a kind of game, and I was excited thinking of doing it. Yes, “assessing” is a key of success for many things in life: buying, selling, getting a job, going for vacations, engaging in a martial art competition. Even in love, the act of “assessing” is frequently present although many people do not notice it. Would anyone, girl or boy, go to a date party without previously assess the risk of danger and the chance of success? So I was attracted by the game of assessing the length of the boundary of this lake. I did not know that this was the beginning of an adventure I would never forget. (to be continued)

POST 100 23March2013 (continued) LAKE OF WONDER and Knight BAO DAN
(Blog 23 March 2013)
Lake of Wonder (continued)
(continued) I have been engaged in the game of assessing the circumference of this magical lake. From the small beach which was my starting point, I did not have a full view of the lake, so I could not directly estimate how large or how long the lake would be. Moreover, there was no path or trail circling this intriguing lake. One Saturday morning, I decided to initiate my game in estimating the size of the Lake. The rule of this game was simple: Once I had made a decision to execute a process, I had no right to change it. That day, I chose to walk and use my steps to do the measurement, since riding a bicycle and using its meter to measure some part of the lake was not an option. For every 1000 steps (500 metres), I would make a stop and perform my training with nine times of the breathing-bow; and for every 2000 steps (one kilometre), I would make another stop and execute a form. Each time I fail to abide by the rule of the game, the lake will win.
Usually this small and deserted beach was very quiet, but when I was about to walk away, a sound of trotting horses was gradually growing towards my direction. A few seconds later, I was surrounded by four young fellows on horseback. I was alone, having only a stick ‘yet-bong’ at hand. They passed me, made a round turn on the beach, and then galloped away as fast as they had come. I stayed still in a cloud of dust, surprisingly seeing them sitting on horseback without saddle. Now, I started dreaming if I could have a horse to go around the lake, or simply to join them for an adventure. A second later, the image of the Mount Ba-Vi came back from my memory in the background of a dozen of Vietnamese mountain folks, young and old, on horseback without saddle, holding firmly their spear or long stick, and advancing in single line into the heart of this dark mountain, which was famous of ferocious tigers. I was then an eleven years-old boy coming from the city and exploring almost every part of life in high mountains and rain forests of my own country. The instinct that had been forged in a forgotten past now suddenly came back to shape up my daring character, when I advanced into the unknown terrain of the Lake of Wonder. I thought I should not be hesitant to take part into this game of exploring the lake; in Mexico, there is no tiger or lion to be afraid of. But one second later, I realized that I had not taken enough precautionary measure defending against snakes. At the moment, I am alone in a deserted place of Mexico, unlike in Canada, a country of snow and maple trees having no venomous snakes.
Although there was no path or trail around the lake, I was advancing quite well the first two kilometres. At the stop of my first kilometre, I performed Bai Di-Xa; the quiet lake seemed to understand my message - I will “go far”. At the stop of my second kilometre, the lake sent hundreds of birds flying around to impress me. This flock of birds flied up very high in organized escadrilles under the cloudy sky. At my great surprise, they suddenly disappeared and then reappeared in a twinkling of an eye, like in a trick of magical cards, under a surreal sky. Slowly, I performed Thap-Bat-Dieu (form of Eighteen Birds) for several times then quietly left the place to continue my way.
I was accounted with more difficulties in my third kilometre. The landscape became somehow unpredictable. The soil was wet and there was a creek cutting across the path. The stream was shallow and the rocks in the bottom seemed to be slippery. I could manage to cross it, but the plan of executing a quyen in the middle of an unknown creek was not an easy task or a wise thing to do even at a quite peaceful place. One solution was that I could make a left turn and walk a bit further up to complete my third kilometre somewhere along the creek before I have to cross it. This was a good idea but not an honest solution. An alternative solution suddenly sprang into my mind, suggesting me to find a very short Quyen which does not involve any leg-kick or any low movement. Do you know what? There is a very small form that we almost forget about it, which has only five simple hand movements. It is easy to perform and very rich in meaning. This form is called ‘Bai Dau-Viet’ or ‘The Five Accents’ in English. With confidence, I slowly crossed the stream, and, at half way, I stopped and did this form. While I was busy executing the form of Five Accents, my stick ‘yet-bong’ slipped out of my hand. I quickly regained it at the cost of being fallen into the water.
I lost! The lake won the first round. My day ended in the evening at a well known Mexican restaurant El Cielo located in Zona Rosa where I enjoyed the company of my new Mexican colleagues, tasted the ‘Mexican Vodka’ tequila, and discovered that, in Mexican Spanish, the word ‘Si’ does not always mean Yes, but sometimes it could mean… No!

Lake of Wonder (continued III)
THE SECOND ROUND AT THE LAKE OF WONDER
LE DEUXIEME MATCH AU LAC DES MERVEILLES
(Voir la version française plus loin)
______________________________________________________
I lost the first round. I felt very humiliated for having fallen into the water. The following Saturday I came back to the Lake of Wonder very early, just before the sun set out its rise over the mountain. There was no one at the small beach. I checked a few things in my small backpack then promptly started to redo the path I had done last week without difficulty. Arriving at the same place where I felt I crossed the brook with determination. This time I held my yetbong-stick firmly when I performed the form Bai Dau-Viet, two feet in the water, the pair of shoes pending around my neck, the light backpack firmly on my shoulder. Nothing could go wrong, I thought. But I was wrong! I advanced a bit further and the water become suddenly deeper, and the rocks much slippery. I did not fall, but my pants got wet up to my knees. The odd thing was I cannot sit anywhere on that ground to deal with my wet pants. I had to walk for more than a half of an hour to arrive at a rock where I could sit to dry my pants. So at the fourth kilometre, I chose to do the form Tinh-Mat because in this quyen there is a movement that reflects well my situation with the wet pants, this movement is called: Can Truong Tham Hai De, meaning "Be courageous when exploring the bottom of the sea".
Sitting on a big rock, large and flat like a bed, I took out my pair of pants and worked hard to dry them. Of course I did not wear a swimsuit, I was in underwear. Fortunately there were no women around and no men neither. No path or trail, not any dog or cat. Only two crows looked down on me from a scrawny tree. I wasn’t sure if they could make the difference between an under-wear and a swimsuit. But, I was sure they understood that I had a problem. Last year, travelling in Japan I learned that the Japanese crows are surprisingly intelligent, and vindictive, so be the Mexican crows. Crows would not make much different between crows, whether national or foreigner. Mexican crows can fly to the USA and live there without visa, I thought of this kind of natural freedom that birds have more than humans. Now how did I dry fast my blue jean? First I used all my force to wring them out, then I took out my T-shirt to roll it over the wet parts of the pants. The T-shirt absorbed water very well. I put the wet T-shirt aside and roll the dry part of the pants over the wet part to make them share the humidity. At this time, the sun was already high above the mountain. I went on to wear my shirt and the humid pants, and put the T-shirt into my backpack. At this moment, I heard the two crows cawing loudly but I did not understand their language so I continued to put my bag on my shoulders, grasp my stick and jumped down from the high rock. The second I landed on the earth I noticed with horror that I almost jumped on a big snake! No rush, the snake continued its way when I made another quick jump away from the unexpected danger. At a safe distance I sorted out my camera to take pictures of the snake thinking that could help later to identify it. But, despite my insistence, the camera refused to cooperate. I realized that I had taken the battery out for charging it and I had forgotten to put it back on the camera. The snake was now a few meters away from me so I followed it and observed it for a while until it completely disappeared under thick brushes. It was over one meter long and five centimetres of diameter approximately. The snake is an animal without legs, without hands, but it can run, it can grasp, and sometimes it climbs as the black-ratsnake often does. I once saw one in Pennsylvania. The black-ratsnake sometimes shelters in cavities up in hollow trees which it can climb without the help of branches. The black-ratsnake can grow up to 2.60 meters of length and live up to twenty years. It can also eat other snakes including rattle snakes! Although snakes prevent our environment from vermin invasion, many people do not like snakes not only because of the deadly threat they carry but also because they are perceived differently. At another tree I saw three crows engaged vehemently in a concert of caws. A thought came to my mind, perhaps when I was on the large rock the two crows had seen the snake, they cawed because they wanted to alarm me on the danger. I recalled some passages of Vietnamese ancient books on military leadership I had read before leaving Vietnam, which taught warriors to observe sky and birds. Birds can provide huge amount of information when people are in operation or in battlefield. I advanced a little bit more and suddenly went back to the rock. Attracted by the snake and the crows, and so much thoughts which prang in my head I had forgotten to count my steps. For sure I had to restart, but had I to restart from the place of the rock or from the initial departing point? That was a big question. The rule was unclear, and I have no judge to cling upon for finding a good decision. I was left alone sitting on the rock, facing to myself with a decision to take against myself, under my own responsibility. Should I have to go back to the small beach and restart the game?

QUESTIONS. There are three main colors on this picture we received from the net: BLUE, RED, and YELLOW. What does the Yellow represent? This posture reminds us a similar well know posture in Vo-Viet, Noi-Cong Chi-Luc, Viettaichi and in Martial Arts in general (Karate, Kung-fu and so on). What is the name of this posture? SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM 1=0 (previously published in the letter NOTHINGNESS AND ONENESS, copy pasted below, after the Solution):
Challenge: Please find the flaw in this mathematical proof (see the letter NOTHINGNESS AND ONENESS below).
SOLUTION: The flaw is at this line:
(a+b) (a-b)/(a-b) = a(a-b)/(a-b),
(a+b) (a-b)/(a-b) = a(a-b)/(a-b),
because a =b, then a-b = 0 ,
but we cannot divide anything by zero
but we cannot divide anything by zero

Surprisingly:
b = a-a = 0 (zero)!
Because we set b to be 1, so b = 1 and 1 = 0
Oneness and Nothingness are equal, QED!
Today students replace the old QED (quod erat demonstrandum) by a filled square ■ called a halmos.
Conclusion: We did not pretend to make a mathematical demonstration for
Nothingness = Oneness,
but we pretend that knowing deeply about Nothingness and Oneness could make our life much better.

LA DERNIERE EXPERIENCE AU LAC DES MERVEILLES
LA DERNIERE EXPERIENCE AU LAC DES MERVEILLES
Lake of Wonder (continued IV)
THE LAST EXPERIENCE AT THE LAKE OF WONDER
(continued)
Finally, I decided to restart my step counting from the big rock rather than from the beach. So I continued my way. At the end of the fifth kilometre, the land was flat, with no big rock or stone, but covered with trees and bird songs. The wind had risen and the Lake of Wonder seemed vibrating, moving with myriads of small waves dancing up and down. Slowly, I started to perform the BAT-NHA Quyen. This is a very high-spiritual quyen (exercising form) for the training of the Mind and the Inner-Power. Some beautiful movements in the quyen express the following deep thought: “The material is not different to the immaterial; the immaterial is part of the material”.
I continued my path without knowing that I was heading to some kind of challenge. The path was now intersected by private houses, which occupied a big lot of land from the upper road down to the lake. This private realm was well protected by high fences, and the entrance gate was guarded by private security. At about twenty-five metres from the gate, I was thinking for a few minutes that how I could possibly pass through. While I was looking around, I saw a sign in Spanish “CASA SE VENDE” (House for sale). I went straight to the gate and said hello to the guards. I complimented the beauty of the environment and the safety of this privileged kingdom. My compliments must make them feel proud of. I said that I like this place and asked if there were any more houses for sale around the area. Surprisingly, one of the guards was quite loquacious! He took pleasure to tell me a lot of things, not only about housing, but about everything inside the kingdom, including the beauty of women living there! After chatting with him for a while, I was confident that I no longer needed the permission of the owners of the houses for sale to enter the private property. Quietly, I went through the gate pretending to see the two houses for sale there. My sixth kilometre ended at a small park inside this kingdom. I did not want to perform a quyen here that could attract some unnecessary attention. So, I sat on a bench with my back turning to the three large houses and perform the “TU-DIEU TOA-CONG”. This is a sitting quyen, a well-known form which requires no move!
I walked away from that kingdom with a good estimation of its length along the lake. Again, I continued counting my steps. The end of the seventh kilometre led me to a dead end: I was at the foot of a high cliff that prevented me from going forward. From this place I could still see the whole lake at my right hand side but not anything beyond that natural wall. I asked myself: What to do now? And the answer came almost immediately: Do the seventh quyen! I then performed the DAI-BI Quyen. This is a special quyen, somewhat “mysterious”, which could help us to develop and improve our Mental Health, Inside Force, Power of Sounds, Mystery of Symbols, Permanent Memory, and Great Compassion. Many sequences of this quyen are complex. Moreover, in the current situation where I was at a dead end path, alone and looking back through a passionate long way of my life, I was performing this quyen with great concentration and deep breathing while producing powerful sounds in Sanskrit at each movement. I could feel strong energy circulating from my center of energy dan-dien through out my body. The sounds, the “mystic sounds”, resonated in the air, vibrated through space, and echoed from somewhere. Mountains, trees and lake were witnessing the power of each of my slow and decisive movement, the place became more sacred and unreal. At the end of the last movement, I felt filled with vitality and also felt liberated from something hidden deep inside. Something that was undefined but real, undetected but present. Could it be that the inner-energy which had been reactivated during the practice of this quyen has washed out negative “seeds” from vital organs of my body? A seed for a potential cancer was busted out? At that moment, I could not affirm anything scientifically, but I could feel almost instantly the beneficial effect of DAI-BI Quyen.
There was no big rock at this desert place; only three stones with the size of a chair. They were arranged, either naturally or artificially, in an oblique line with respect to the lake, and relatively close to each others. I took my seat on the nearest stone to the lake and closed my eyes, completely relaxed for a minute or two. When I opened my eyes, out of the blue, there was an individual sitting on the stone next to mine. I gave him a quick scan from head to toes. He was barefooted; long head, thin body with abundant white hairs touching his shoulders. His prominent nose and piercing eyes made him looked like an eagle. He looked peaceful and appeared to be in his seventies, maybe more, but still alert. All in him -the skin, the face, eyes, mouth, and morphology- indicated that he was a direct descendent of some lost people who once reigned here many centuries ago. I smiled at him and engaged in small conversation. In fact, we did not talk much; we talked slowly, in short phrases. But good communication between us had been established, rather a kind of mutual understanding. He won fast my respect. He appeared to me as a sage coming back from centuries of History away. When I asked where he lived he pointed his hand to the other shore of the lake. I was surprise and curious to know how he could come to this side of the lake given that walking over the cliff seemed impossible to me. But I decided to keep my curiousness for myself.
Directly from the stones where we sat, I could see the beach far away on the other side of the shore. I assumed that I was at the middle of the path. Therefore, I concluded that the circumference of the lake was about 14 kilometres. Although, this was not a close estimation, it was the best answer I could guess. I also suggested that the lake is connected to a dam somewhere down the path that could explain why its water level was sometimes changed rapidly. However, I could not come up with a decent explanation for why the lake could change colors, a phenomenon which must be known to geologists or scientists in the related fields.
We sat in silence, admiring the beauty of the Lake of Wonder. The sun has started setting down toward the horizon. I humbly said to my new acquaintance “Hasta luego” which means “See you later” although I did not know when and how we could meet again. Then I quietly left. After ten or fifteen metres away, I stopped and thought I should find out more about him; maybe we could arrange a next meeting. Without hesitation, I turned my back. But I saw no one on the stones. The place was deserted.

VIET-CHI POST, June 2010
LA DERNIERE EXPERIENCE AU LAC DES MERVEILLES
LA DERNIERE EXPERIENCE AU LAC DES MERVEILLES
(suite)
Je me demandais: Que faire maintenant?

POST 103 WEEK13-20 APRIL. The Duel. The Sacred Seal (continued) Knight Clara
QUESTION for this Blog 13 April 2013
There are n participants to a mortal series of duels (win or die) which let only one survivor in the end. How does the number of duels vary as a function of the number of participants? Please send your answer via email to clubmasterhoang@yahoo.com,
ANSWER (question in the previous Blog 06 April)
*For Vietnamese people, the yellow color is:
-the color of the Earth, the stability
-the national color, the nobility
-the color of early Autumn
*The posture in this picture is possibly related to several Tan (stances):
-basically, the Hac-Tan (Crane) in the series of 18 stances of VoViet /Vietvodao
-a posture called Kim-Ke Doc-Lap (Golden Roster Standing on One Leg)
-a stance in Viettaichi called Dia-Hoi Tan ( but the left leg must be much lowered, slightly touching the ground)
-a posture called Dai-Bang Thien-Vu (The Eagle Exploring The Sky)
(BLOG 06 APRIL 2013)QUESTIONS.
THE DUEL:
PASSION AND STUPIDITY
| |
In Europe, especially in France as I learned, the practice of duel, in the past, was a way to settle a quarrel with Honor, Virility, Self-Respect, and so on. That was in theory. In practice, when later, in 17th century, the duel was forbidden under heavy sanction that could be up to death sentence, why a number of men, including famous people like René Descartes, Évariste Galois who were supposedly very intelligent and logic, continued to be engaged in this stupid practice? Descartes happily survived but Galois lost his life. I thought the answer is: Because it was a game; any kind of game always creates a kind of Passion which is not bad by itself. But from Passion to Stupidity there is only one step to jump over.

POST 109 26 May to 02 June SPANISH SOUL IN SEGOVIA - AN UNEXPECTED MEETING
THE SPANISH SOUL IN SEGOVIA
After our Stage in Roma, on Monday 20 May 2013, I flew to Barcelona connecting to Valladolid where some colleagues were awaiting me at the Conference des Economistes. Unfortunately I missed the flight for a stupid reason. So I rented a car then ... GO! The adventure started at this point for nine days of an unplanned travel through Spain after the Conference in Valladolid.
Yesterday afternoon, 23 May, I left Madrid and landed on a small town, really did not know where to go. A kind gentleman told me why not to visit Segovia, that was where he was heading. I followed him. That evening in Segovia is now unforgettable! I am attaching here something I wrote at a famous bar-restaurant in Segovia along with some pictures to share with you.

THE MALBORK CASTLE
THE MALBORK CASTLE
15 June 2013
Warm thoughts to all of you from a small city of Campobasso in Italy where I am writing this on a borrowed computer at Hotel San Giorgio, thanks to Luggi (Saturday 15 June 2013)
I have been travelling from Wegorzewo in Poland (1 through 7 June), along the Baltic sea up to Malmo in Sweden, then down to Denmark, and Saturday evening I got lost in Germany ( and landed by luck to a small beautiful village). But what I want to share with you in this post are some pictures of the Malbork Castle: A typical German architectural work and a Polish geographical site, and a famous Human World Heritage. Built in the 13th century, this beautiful castle was the headquarters of the Teutonic Knights, the prestigious seat of their Grand Masters. There are the statues of three most famous grand Masters, you will see them on one of the attached pictures.
But what is most impressive when I got through the entrance gate is a field of statues of strong knights, all exhibiting their prominent sex!
No comment! (we all know that strong men do have strong sex but by social convention people are shy to show it on statues, except some beautiful statues I have seen in Italy, and the one I like most to cite is the statue of St Nicolas in front of a church in a small town in Sicilia!). I have to leave the hotel now. (In this post I could not paste the continuous Adventure of Knight Clara, but it will be here next time)
Best wishes
